Improve and Have Fun

Formerly known as ‘The P-V-P Show’. I’m a podcaster documenting my journey as I’m consistently trying to improve myself and have fun along the way.

My hope is to INSPIRE YOU to SHARE YOUR JOURNEY and show how you can HAVE FUN sharing your unique point of view.

On this podcast I discuss self improvement, random observations in my life. For fun I enjoy documenting weird stories I find online.
For fun I put together mixtapes with current favorite songs. I also enjoy reviewing movies and tv shows.

Finally I take pleasure in discussing and sharing the biggest lessons I've learned in a book or podcast I've consumed.

The sequel to 1996's Independence Day was a lot of dumb fun!     To find out more about the original movie click here for the Wikipedia page.   My pros and cons with the film:

Pros

  • Fun movie, I laughed and enjoyed the movie.
  • Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, Maika Monroe (from 'It Follows'), Travis Tope (from Boardwalk Empire season 5) were the standouts in the film.
  • Amazing special effects, especially the look of the aliens.   I feel an improvement from the first film.   Also the combination of the new human/alien technology was very sleek.
  • Brent Spiner stole the movie for me.   Very entertaining and funny whenever he showed up on screen.
  • Tighter and better pace than the first film.

Cons

  • Bill Pullman death wish, he wanted to be die/be killed/sacrificed in almost every scene he was in.
  • Replaceable main characters.   Hiller's son, Liam Hemsworth, Angelababy, had no appeal or charisma and could've been played by anyone.
  • Revenge Yell!!!   Every time one of the main/side character's friend(s)/family was hurt or killed, they got their vengeance by yelling and shooting aplenty...and it worked!
  • The 'Floyd' character was brutal.    To go from this pencil necked geek to 'warrior' by the time the film is done wasn't a pleasant thing to sit through.
  • Characters emotional roller coaster...one second their grieving a loved one's death the next their smiling and celebrating....yay!   We beat the aliens but my best friend is dead!
  • This movie is filled with ridiculousness that will make you groan and laugh.

But this is the exact reason why I enjoyed this movie.   My final score is a 7/10.   Popcorn-dumb movie to the fullest.

Shout out to my boys Jason G. and Gunnie for helping me out with this review.
